Gingersnap Cookies

 1/2 cup shortening

1/4 cup butter

1 cup brown sugar

1 egg

1/4 cup molasses

2 1/4 cups flour

2 tsp soda

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp ginger

1/2 tsp ground cloves

1/4 tsp salt


Cream together shortening, butter, and brown sugar. Stir in egg and molasses and mix well. Add dry ingredients and mix together. Chill dough for 1 hour before baking. Bake at 375F for 8-10 minutes. You can sprinkle with sugar or dip half the cookie in white chocolate.
