Bonnie Butter Cake

Ingredients:

2/3 cup butter
3/4 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 tsp vanilla or lemon extract
2 3/4 flour
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 1/4 cups milk

Mix butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla on high-speed scraping bowl occasionally until fluffy, about 5 minutes. At low-speed mix in flour, baking powder, and salt alternately with milk. Bake 45-50 minutes in grease and floured 13x9 pan or 30-35 minutes in 3 8-inch round pans at 350.

Frost with French Silk Frosting.

Ingredients:
2 2/3 cups powdered sugar
2/3 cup butter, softened
5 tbsp cocoa
3/4 tsp vanilla
2 tbsp milk

Blend sugar, butter, cocoa, and vanilla at low speed. Slowly add milk and beat until smooth.

It was a special occasion at my house if this was made as a layer cake. My family preferred using the lemon extract instead of vanilla, but I liked it with just vanilla.

The best thing about this recipe is the frosting. It is amazing. Probably because of the extra butter compared to most frosting recipes. Chelsey loves to make the frosting every chance she gets.
